My sister is here helping me this week. More on why she's down here helping later, but we went down to Gulf Shores and Orange Beach tonight. Of course we hear all about the oil on a daily basis and we see first hand the effect its having on our local economy and on friends whose livlihood depends on the beach. However, I really wasn't prepared for how sad it would be to see it washing up first hand. I now understand why people have been crying when they see it. It was very eerie and almost somber on the pier that we were on tonight. Crews were heading out to clean up this latest wave and further out it smelled just awful. The water was black with a bright sheen. So incredibly sad for this area and for all those that are directly affected.
The beach in Gulf Shores. So sad!
